The total employment for Pennsylvania is 6,038,800, which is 1,500 greater than last month, an increase of 0.02%. The total employment a year ago was 6,008,500, which is 30,300 lower than today. Employment has increased by 0.50% in the last year. Last months' employment total was revised from 6,037,300 to 6,044,200. This revision is a change of 0.11% from the preliminary numbers.

The Health and Education Services sectors are the leading employers in Pennsylvania. There are 1,282,100 employees in the sector. Last month the sector had 1,284,700 employees last month, a decrease of 2,600 (0.20%). Last year the sector had 1,272,900 employees last year, an increase of 9,200 (0.72%).

Weekly wages increased over the last month from $877.15 per week an increase of 0.4%.

A year ago, the average hours worked was 40.8 hourse per week, which is a decrease of 0.2%. Hourly wages have increased over the last year from $20.81 per hour, an increase of 4.0%. Weekly wages have increased over the last year from $849.05 per week, an increase of 3.7%.

The unemployment rate increased in July, 2019 from 3.8% to this months' 3.9%. A year ago the unemployment rate was 4.2%, 0.3% lower today. The total workforce in July, 2019 was 6,469,771, which is 0.0% higher than last months 6,469,132 and is 0.0% higher than last years 6,418,505. The total number of unemployed in Pennsylvania is 249,553 as compared to the revised figure from last month of 246,401 and 270,343 unemployed a year ago.
